The Sea Ranch, about 3 hours north of San Francisco, is a hidden gem that our friend Dave has been visiting since he was a child. It has become one of my kids’ favorite places to visit. There’s not much to do other than hike, wade at the Hot Spot, hike, eat, play games, and hike some more. In short, it’s peaceful as can be, and the whole stretch has views of the Pacific and perfect weather. Prices are high during holidays, but you can get great deals (7 nights for the price of 5) at other times during the year if you search the local rental companies like Beach Rentals and their sister site Stay in Sea Ranch. Call the office and be specific about what you’re looking for – they’ll help you. Be careful not to use a corporate outfit like Vacasa – some friends had a bad experience with a rental they manage up there.
